How to Care for Your Jeans?

It is very important that we take proper care of our jeans so that they will last long and colours will remain bright. So, here are some washing and care tips that I would like to share with you to keep your pair of jeans fabulous(:

  1. First, it is very important that you pay attention to the care instructions of your jeans. Some jeans might be special and requires specific care.
  2. For the first time you wash your jeans, you can wash it by hand with warm water without soap. Soak the jeans for about 10 minutes and move it around carefully to prevent uneven colouration.
  3. Next, turn your jeans inside out and empty all pockets.
  4. Load your jeans to the washing machine and set it to a delicate cycle. Load no more than 4-5 pairs of jeans at once since the heavy load will damage both the machines and clothing. It is also advisable that you use cold or lukewarm water to wash your jeans to prevent fading.
  5. After the washing is completed, remove your jeans from the washing machine and let it air dry. You may put your jeans in the dryer with the minimum temperature setting as well. However, be reminded that jeans that are air-dried are less likely to fade and shrink.
  6. At last, after drying hang your jeans in the closet rather than folding them to prevent wrinkling.
Some extra care tips:
  •  NEVER bleach your jeans! Bleaching will cause the fading of colours, result in uneven patches and discolouration.
  • To avoid fading of colour and keep colours bright, try adding some table salt or white vinegar to the wash water. (1/4 cup of salt, 1/8 cup of vinegar)
  • Don't overwash your jeans, try washing it as little as possible. If you get dirt in your jeans, try spot cleaning it instead of washing it entirely.
  • Don't scrub your jeans and move them around roughly. Just soaking them will do.
