What is Jeans?
Jeans is actually pants/trousers that are made out of a type of fabric called denim.
What is Denim?
Is a type of fabric that is use to create jeans. Known as “serge de Nimes” in the 16th century France, this fabric is made in Nimes, France. Back then the only colour for denim is indigo dye.
History of Jeans:
Jeans was 1st worn by sailors from Genoa, Italy many centuries ago. But Jeans gains its recognition in late 19th century knows as waist overall, that is very popular among miners. Jeans also known as work pants back then.In the 19th century when the gold rush started in America, miners needed trousers that is strong and did not wear out easily. That’s when Levi Strauss designed trousers (a.k.a waist overall) that made out of denim. Due to high level of strain and stress imposed to the trousers by miners, Jacob Davis, a tailor invented the copper rivets on the pocket corners and top of the button fly to make the trousers more durable. Worries his idea will be stolen by others, Jacob seek Levi cooperation and patented the idea. The day the idea was patented was the birth of blue jeans. Thus, making Levi Strauss & Co. is the 1st ever company that produce riveted jeans.
